Key Job Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze structural designs for hydropower projects and other infrastructure, ensuring they meet safety and performance requirements.
- Perform calculations to determine the loads and forces that structures will encounter, such as wind, seismic, and live loads.
- Select appropriate materials for construction based on strength, durability, and cost considerations.
- Create detailed technical drawings and specifications for structural components, ensuring they comply with building codes and standards.
- Conduct site visits to inspect ongoing construction work, ensuring that it adheres to design specifications and quality standards.
- Evaluate and assess the structural integrity of existing structures, identifying any potential issues or required repairs.
- Work closely with civil engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery.
- Ensure that designs and construction practices comply with relevant Guidelines for study of Hydropower Projects, 2018 and safety regulations.
- Address and resolve engineering problems or challenges that arise during the design or construction phases.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including reports, calculations, and correspondence related to structural projects.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SAP2000, ETABS) and a strong understanding of structural analysis, materials science, and construction techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex structural issues, perform load calculations, and develop effective engineering solutions.
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Flexibility to work in remote locations and travel as required is a must.
